About This Site
"Someone ought to give these guys an award for understanding and exploiting the true potential of the Web. Part information resource, part 'zine, CURP's site has pulled together a community of people who care about urban issues by promoting a discussion and presenting information that's actually useful." - ArchitectureBoston Magazine
www.curp.neu.edu is the website of the Center for Urban and Regional Policy at Northeastern University.
The site provides three functions.
- First, it offers an overview of CURP, its research, and its publications.
- Second, it is a bi-weekly urban policy and planning magazine, offering columns, articles, book reviews, and a calendar of events.
- Third, it is an urban resource, offering a searchable database on policy and planning organizations in the Boston area, links to the best urban content on the Web, and extensive data sets about the region.
In addition to the homepage, which provides an overview of the magazine's new offerings, the CURP website is organized into six sections:
- About CURP provides information on the Center's Mission, Staff, Associates, Partners, and Alumni.
- CURP Projects provides an overview of all of the Center's projects. Ongoing Projects offers a look at CURP's current activities. Completed Projects reviews CURP's past achievements. New Initiatives offers a preview of CURP's future work. Other Activities spotlight the projects that CURP is undertaking outside of its main issue areas.
- Visual Data provides data tools for understanding Boston. The section includes Tables, Graphs, and Charts, Maps, Photographs and Renderings, and the Boston Renaissance Resource Kit.
- Publications is CURP's go-to page for all the Reports published by CURP as well as the Articles and Books written by the CURP staff.
- Research Links provide tools to facilitate urban research, from the Greater Boston Database to News and Report Links to Urban Policy Links to the Boston Bibliography, a collection of books about Boston.
- Site Archive provides a back-listing of every piece of material published in the magazine, dated backwards and easily referenced.
